Embracing Nostalgia, Craft, and Romance

Ennui is a mama-owned womenswear brand based in the Hudson Valley.  Each piece is created with a focus on thoughtful construction, timeless silhouettes, and ease in everyday wear.

The work begins with the materials -- primarily vintage and secondhand textiles, including curtains, tablecloths, and archived fabrics.  These materials guide the process, allowing each garment to take shape within the limits of what already exists.

Inspired by a lineage of seamstresses and crafters, Ennui is grounded in a respect for traditional garment-making and the idea that clothing should be built to last.  Pieces are designed to be lived in as housewears -- garments that feel at home in everyday life, yet refined enough to be worn beyond it.

Production is a balance of small-batch and made-to-order, allowing for a slower, more intentional approach.  New textiles are used selectively, chosen for their quality and natural composition.

Each garment is designed, patterned, and sewn at home in our Kingston, NY studio, and finished using traditional techniques such as French seams and bias binding to ensure durability and a refined interior.  Many styles are adjustable, designed to move with the wearer and remain in use over time.

At its core, Ennui is a about creating garments with care -- meant to be lived in, cared for, and kept.
